Would the insurance company have cut you a check for the damage if you had chosen not to have it repaired?

ours was totaled a month ago. that oil spot is from the engine oil cooler having a hole poked in it. its all RCF on everything.

How do you start the car without the clutch?

Emissions light was on, wonder if the catalytic converter (a.k.a. Cadillac Converter) was stolen, sold, installed on the other car etc. It would be funny if the damaged parts were installed on this car are from the damaged car they stole these good parts for. Like they wanted to upgrade their standard Acura with these Type S parts.

This reminds of a news story on 60 Minutes years ago in California about the high rate of Honda Accord thefts. The car thieves would steal a Honda Accord, take it to a strip down facility, remove high dollars parts and then dump the car elsewhere. When car was recovered by insurance company, it went to auction and then the car thieves would buy it back. They would then take the car back to the strip down facility and re-assemble the car, then sell it.

Re-marketing cars at the insurance auctions, is this a new thing or just more prevalent today? Seems to be a deceiving practice that should be illegal.

Is it really that bad? I wanted to buy Chev. Cruze as my second car but I see that every single onc has some problems ... (well I've seen only 1.4 turbocharged problematic I wanna buy 1.8) I'd appreciate if anybody shared some experience with this car in here <3

is it me, did they change the color of the car? it looked silver in the original crash pics. After repair it looked charcoal gray.

RC F is a nice car, how could they destroy it like that, entire front and back is gone. I wonder who will buy such a rebuilt car. The frame is warped, I seriously doubt rebuilding such a car is never gonna restore it. RIP.

Something's strange. You started your car and remained stationary. When my clutch went out if I hit the starter it would lurch forward and I'd have to hold the starter on til it got moving.

I use a clutch only to start and stop, after getting going my foot doesn't touch the pedal.

I have the passenger side loose and have discontinued the steering colum. I can't find the two screws above the steering wheel to take out. What sizes are they? I'm working on a 2001 Silverado 1500hd.

It’s really very hard to wreck an RCF, being young and dumb will prove any comment wrong in that sense. This thing is lucky it doesn’t have the carbon roof like mine, that alone is a 14k part to replace. Get it cheap, pull the engine and part out what ever is good, that puddle is probably from the oil cooler that is just above. Great job calling out scammers.

Pretty much a turd. Probably too new for there to be much market for the engine/transmission, if the powertrain is any good. The seller's bank must be pretty dim. This builder is probably borrowing a lot of money to try flipping stuff like this. And maybe they are paying back the loans but the lender is supposed to know their customer. Ouch.
